The Eden Prairie Crime Prevention Fund was established in 1977 by a group of civic-minded citizens and community leaders. The mission was and still is to provide the Police Department with funding for rewards and other needs not covered in their annual budget. The Crime Fund originally obtained their startup with the help of the Eden Prairie Morning Rotary Club and modeled themselves after other Crime Prevention Funds in neighboring cities.
The Eden Prairie Crime Prevention Fund is the only organization that directly funds law enforcement programs in the City. The Fund provides assistance for activities that are not normally funded by the City. All Fund activities are supported by the Eden Prairie Police Department. The Fund assists the Police Department in preventing crime, providing reward and informant money as well as funding various community outreach programs within Eden Prairie. Our goal is to make Eden Prairie a safe place to live and work.
The Eden Prairie Crime Prevention Fund is an IRS registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization. The Crime Prevention Fund relies entirely on donations from residents and businesses. All donations are tax deductible. It is run by a volunteer board which includes business and community leaders.

The Police Department appreciates the Crime Fund's mission to assist us in helping to make Eden Prairie a safe place to live and work. Please consider donating to the Eden Prairie Crime Prevention Fund's worthy cause."
"In 1977 Eden Prairie was a growing community. As a business owner, I knew that Eden Prairie would face challenges as the city grew. The Crime Prevention Fund was created to focus on sustaining a safe and vibrant community by creating effective partnerships between the city, businesses, schools and families. Taking a proactive approach to crime, the board was established to increase community awareness and engagement."
